How to Be Good at Maple Story

December 12, 2007

MapleStory is a free, downloadable MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) that currently has over one million players. With monsters to fight, quests to complete, friends to make, and lots of places to visit, MapleStory provides a wealth of challenges. What’s more, since the game includes cute characters and plenty of scenery, even the youngest gamer can enjoy playing. While training is often long and tedious, it pays off in the long run if you can stick to it, because the higher your level, the more there is to do. Want to become good at MapleStory? All it takes practice–and a few helpful tips.

  1. Logging In

    Logging In

Find a good place to train. A good place has a lot of monsters that are at least 3 - 5 levels below you. If your level is below 10, there will not be any monsters with low enough levels, so just train on snails and mushrooms on Maple Island.

  2. Familiarize yourself with your character. It will take some trial and error to discover you character’s attack range, jumping height, etc. Once you become familiar with the basics, try to learn more advanced tricks, such as how to dodge a monster that is chasing you by turning around and jumping at the same time.
  3. The MapleStory character creation screen.

    The MapleStory character creation screen.

Customize your controls. You use the mouse and keyboard to navigate MapleStory. While the default keys may be acceptable, you might be able to improve your game by changing them.

  4. Join or start a guild. To start a guild you will need a lot of money, and you’ll have to go to Orbis. If you create a guild, you become the guild master or leader. Then you may invite others, etc. You can also pick a logo of sorts, and distribute different titles to members. Membership in a guild helps you make friends, who you can then easily find and contact. Friends can help you with questions you may have or can go on quests with you. Plus, hey, it’s good to have friends.
  5. Try doing some quests, as they sometimes give you good, rare items. Even though quests often give you little experience, they are a good break from training all day long.
  6. If you’re becoming a Magician, you can do it at level 8. Go to Ellinia and travel to the very top to talk to Grendel the Really Old. He will turn you into a Magician. If you’re becoming a Thief, you can do it at level 10. Go to Kerning City and find a door with “Fusion Jazz Bar” above it. Go inside there and go down the drain in the toilet on the left. You’ll find the Dark Lord there. He will turn you into a Rogue. If you’re becoming a Warrior, you can do it at level 10. Go to Perion and go to the Shrine of Warriors which is located at the very top. Talk to “Dances with Balrog” . If you’re becoming a Bowman, you can do it at level 10. Go to Henesys and go to Mushroom Park. Then travel to the very right until you come to a house next to Game Park. Go inside and talk to Athena Pierce. She will make you a Bowman.
  7. Join a Party Quest when you get to level 10 or level 21. Go to Kerning City or Henesys in Mushroom Park and ask to join a party. If it is your first time, tell them so they can brief you and give you tips. Party questing is a great way to gain experience fast and is also very fun. You can’t Party Quest anymore after level 30 in Kerning City, in Henesys it is any level over level 10.
  8. Make your second job advancement at level 30. Each class is different in the advancement, so do some research to find out how to go about it.
  9. Find another place to train after reaching level 31. You’ll benefit from a good place to train until you reach levels 36 - 38, in the newest patch, Vers. 0.46, there is a new haunted house in the new town NLC, this is available to anyone after Halloween.
  10. Buy a ticket to Orbis from Ellinia at level 38. When you reach Orbis, check www.hidden-street.net for the location of Jr. Cellions, Jr. Lioners, and Jr. Grupins. They give you a good amount of experience and drop Solid Horns, which are used in the “Exchange Quest,” in which you can get 500 experience and some items for every 100 Solid Horns you acquire.
  11. Consider doing the Ludibrium Party Quest at level 35. Level 35 is very low for that Party Quest, but if you feel up to it, why not? Don’t tell the others it is your first time or you won’t get in. Simply read a guide, and complete the quest up to the 8th stage. If you feel comfortable fighting the boss and you have Magic Guard upwards of 700hp, tell your cleric. You can do the Ludibrium Party Quest until level 50.
  12. Orbis PQ is another option, and you can do it from level 51-70.If you don’t know how, tell your PQ members to brief you.
  13. Make your third job advancement after you reach level 70. Once again, each class is different, so do some research in advance.

Two Curse Eye monsters. Maplestory has more than one hundred different monsters.

Tips

  • Search the internet to find out almost anything about MapleStory, including monster stats, item stats, detailed maps, and much more.
  • You can buy and sell items with other Maplers at sites such as Basilmarket.com. The trades are organized by server.
  • When you talk to non-player characters (NPCs), you can make them instantly finish their talk by clicking the text screen.
  • It’s OK to die. You will be transported to the nearest town with 50 HP and as much MP as you had when you died. After you make your first job advancement, however, every death will cost you a percentage of your experience, though you cannot be leveled down by this method. Characters with low LUK lose 10%, increasing LUK lowers the exp lost to a minimum of 5%.
  • To find out what quests are available for your character’s level, open the quest menu (hotkey: Q) and click the tab “Quests Available.”
  • Always train on monsters a few levels below you. You will have less of a chance of dying and you will gain experience faster because the monsters will be easier to kill.
  • When you are in a town, check the potion store for return scrolls so you don’t have to travel all the way to that town again. Instead, double click the return scroll to be teleported to the respective town.
  • When you are selling your loot from monsters, sell them at a potion shop so you can stock up on potions and return scrolls.
  • Check www.hidden-street.net for a list of items that are used for the “Exchange Quest.” You may complete the quest as many times as you would like, and you receive 500 experience every time you complete it, along with some items. The monsters that drop the items needed for the quest are levels 33+, so be careful.
  • Check to see if your armor and weapons are up to your level. Check www.hidden-street.net for more information.
  • When given free quest items in huge amounts, fame the person if you can. This shows respect and will get you respect and maybe a fame back.
  • Never leech off of your party unless the party master or a majority of the party approves of it. Leeching without their permission will get you a mass defame and a boot from the party.
  • Common hotkeys in their default places are the following. Quests Window: Q. Equipment Window: E. Stats Window: S. Skills Window: K. Friends/Party/Guild Window: R. Pickup Items: Z. Sit: X. Chatroom: C. World Map: W.
  • Always fight monsters to get the things they drop. You never know when you will encounter people which want to buy the items from you.
  • Try going to www.mapletip.com it has lots of tips and guides for begginers and daily players.
  • If you’re a warrior, killing things like dark stumps or stumps would be good for level 10-13. After that, get a spear (preferably get one before level 11) and you’d have no problem leveling up. At level 20 go to henesys, and kill ribbon pigs (or pig beach but thats crowded) then at level 25 go to Kern PQ. Level 29 or 30 go to Orbis, kill jr or reg sentinels untill level 33. Then go to Ant Tunnel in SleepyWood untill level 38. If you’re a one handed sword/axe/mace person then that’s defensive, you’ll have to kill things that are weaker than you are, like vvery least level. If you’re a two handed mac/axe/sword person, a bit less then your level monsters. If you’re a spear/pole axe then the best things to kill is 1 level lower or equal level than you. I’ll tell about thieves when I’m done my thief.

Warnings

  • Never venture too far into a dungeon unless you are in a party or know you are powerful enough to take on the monsters.
  • You may get expelled from a guild or party, so be careful if you are under someone else.
  • Don’t go to Orbis before you are at least level 25-30.
  • When in a party full of strangers, check every so often to see if a party member is “leeching” experience off of you. They may be just hanging around on a rope while you battle the monsters and give them a lot of experience. A good way of checking is to see if the yellow “You have Gained Experience” text appears at the right, indicating if the other party member is fighting. If you are in a party with more than one other person, this might not always work.
  • When trading with another player, beware of overpriced items and check the actual price on www.hidden-street.net or check the trades on www.basilmarket.com.
  • If you find you’re spending an awful lot of time playing MapleStory or other online games, it may be time to get out the house for a while.
  • Rememember, Maple Story does not ruin your life, you ruin your life for those of you who are too addicted.
  • Never go into Victoria Island unless you are Lv 7 and above.
  • Never fall for the “you can get mesos by pressing tab tab space enter” scam

How to Hack Maplestory

December 12, 2007
    1. Understand the risks. Any kind of hacking is against the rules of the game and will get you banned from play if you are caught. Server hacking (packet hacking) is against the law, since those packets and servers are the property of the company. If you hack the servers it is just like trespassing and stealing in the real world.
    2. Read and understand the company policy on third party hacking tools. You can find the policy under Support.
    • If you hack the server(s) you can get 10 years in a Korean jail, plus a fine.
    • Consider that hacking is a little pointless and takes away from the experience of the game. Ask yourself, what’s the point of hacking - it doesn’t make you any better at game play.
    1. Understand the values to change. The settings you need to change are stored in hexadecimal, or Base-16 notation which means they will be 8 digits long and sometimes contain numerals. o set new values you will need to express those in hex also. For example let’s say you have 100% speed and you want 120% speed. Pretend that the value for 100% speed is AAAAAAAA and the value for 120% speed is BBBBBBBB.
    1. Find and Download the tools. To do these hacks you will need two software tools. We cannot give you links to these tools as they never stay in the same place and their names change as the company is vigilant about shutting these programs down. You will need to do your own Google search to find them:
    2. Download a cheat engine.
    • Download a bypass for Gameguard, software put in place to protect the game from hackers.
    1. Hack the game.
    2. Run your Bypass software.
    • Open your cheat engine.
    • Open Maplestory.
    • Select Maplestory as the process you want to hack in the cheat engine.
      • You can set Maplestory as the default if you wish.
    • Log in and get to where you want to hack.
    1. Using your cheat engine, find the value you want to change, in our example AAAAAAAA.
    2. Change it to the new value, in our example BBBBBBBB.
    • Press Confirm.
      • Sometimes you have to tick “ZF” to activate that hack. (Ctrl+R on your Cheat List).
    • Check to see if it worked. If the hack did not work then you may have made a mistake or the hack may be patched.
    1. Know the values. To get your started here is a list of common values to change:
      Godmode
A value that you change so you never get hit.
      Dupex Vac
You need to add some code so the monster comes to you.
      Meso hack
      You need to hack server.
      HP hack
      You need to hack server.
      MP hack
Unless you are a mage, you need to hack the server.
      Level hack
      You have to hack server
      NX hack
      Server hack too.
      Jump hack
Disconnects after 3 seconds of flying.
      Speed attack
Disconnects you to login server after 5 seconds of mass attacking.

    Tips:

  • You need new values after each update because they change.
  • Hacks like godmode, vac, speed atk, are just things that you edit in your game, they do not involve the servers.
  • Don’t hack on your main account; if you get banned then all your memories are gone!
  • If you disconnected then you did it wrong/its patched.
  • Don’t hack at Ant Tunnel;or Hunting grounds 1 there are a bunch of noobs.
  • If you want to hack at Ant Tunnel use a fly hack to jump up onto one of those platforms at the very top and then start vaccing everything onto your platform. It’s easy, and no one can report you because you’re out of sight.
  • MapleSEA is easier to hack. There are weird hacks in SEA like shadow partner, miss hack etc.
  • In some cases, Windows vista(oldversion) will prevent Gameguard from making changes to your computer. This could also function as a bypass.

    Warnings

    • The more recent updates make it almost inpossible to hack.
    • Don’t level up too fast or you get banned; GM’s patrol all maps looking for people who may be hacking.
    • Server hacks get you 10 years in jail plus a fine (If you live in Korea, where the server is located).
    • You can still be caught if you’re off map. When somebody Changes channels, you are visible for about 1 second, then on their screen you appear to go off map. So stay away from change channel spots.
    • If somebody enters your map, IMMEDIATELY LOG OFF! You cannot Change Channels (CC) with your hacks.
    • Don’t talk to friends or socialize as they will track you!
    • Don’t hack in popular areas; People will report you.
    • Try not to die, it could mess you up as you get put somewhere else.

    November 30, 2007

    Code:

MapleMacro v2 ============= MapleMacro is a module written for the game MapleStory that acts as a bot to manipulate the game. This application is created to last forever and to be used on any version (of Global MapleStory) by updating itself through arrays of bytes. If there is an update and MapleMacro cannot find the programmed arrays of bytes, it will download the new listing from our dev site - thus lasting forever! Changes ======= -Added 2 Autoskill macros -Added Autoclick macro -Added INS (insert) button support -Binded Autopot HP and Autopot MP to the same hotkey. Notes ===== MapleMacro has been proven to only work with GMS (Global MapleStory), and other regions are currently unsupported. Other clients will become supported in later revisions - MSEA, KMS, etc. will be working soon enough! Both GameGuard and MapleStory CRC bypass are needed to run alongside this bot. Autoclicker may seem buggy, but reference your clicking position to the top cursor ghost - you'll get it when you try it. Instructions ============ Place PCOMDebug.dll in your MapleStory directory (e.g. C:\Nexon\MapleStory\). Enable GameGuard and MapleStory CRC bypasses and open MapleStory. Descriptions ============ -Settings- Autopot HP [x] [y] [z] - F7 to enable/disable Autopot MP [x] [y] [z] - F7 to enable/disable Autoskill [x] [o] [z] - F8 to enable/disable Autoskill [x] [o] [z] - F9 to enable/disable Autoattack [x] [z] - F10 to enable/disable Autolook [x] [z] - F11 to enable/disable Autoclick [z] - F12 to enable/disable
